Today, in the second entry of our new blog series highlighting the great work of WNY wedding professionals, we sit down with photographers Jeff and Snjezana Fisher of Fisher Creative Image. A husband and wife team, their passion for photography has truly become their lifestyle. Learn more about what life is like as a professional WNY wedding photographer, and make sure to check out some of their work!
How long do you typically spend with the bride and groom before, during, and after the wedding?
We will spend a couple of hours with the couple on their engagement session. We love to get to know a couple in a casual setting before the wedding, and the engagement session is perfect for that. On the day of the wedding, we arrive at the house two hours before the ceremony to shoot the bride’s preparation: hair, makeup, getting dressed, etc. Our contract has us with them up to eleven hours on the wedding day. Most of our clients bond a close relationship with us so we remain in contact after the wedding to shoot their newborn children and beyond!
Is there an art to getting that perfect shot?
One of my favorite quotes is, “Luck favors the prepared”. There is no substitute for anticipation through experience. After twenty plus years in the business I know the exact magic moments before they happen.
What is the toughest aspect of your business?
Clearly, after receiving many awards for our photography we got that part down! The toughest part is the day-to-day running of a business. The bookkeeping, accounting, scheduling, etc. that distracts us from the creative process.
How does the DJ impact the work of a photographer at an event? How much do you communicate before and during an event?
We find it vital to be on the same page with the DJs on the wedding day. Close coordination assures us there will be no surprises and consequently missed shots. There is nothing worse than being in the bathroom during the cake cutting before the DJ never gave us a heads up!
Bonus Question: Who do you think has the best pizza in WNY?!
LOL, without question it has to be Nino’s!
It’s clear Jeff and Snjezana have not only a great eye for photography, but a great perspective on the important work that they do. Of course you want to have the time of your life at your wedding- it’s equally important to make sure these memories are preserved for years and years to come.
